Flaine's architecture and decoration make it memorable for its many visitors… And don't forget that it has been awarded the "Twentieth century Heritage" label! Its ecumenical chapel is classified as a Historic Monument and the "Le Flaine" and "Betelgeuse" buildings are listed on the Supplementary Inventory of French Historic Monuments.
The Grand Massif ski area was the 1st ski area in the world to receive Green Globe certification, which is great recognition for the efforts made by the tourism companies in their sustainable development efforts… At the same time, the resort has set up an environmental observatory covering 1,400 hectares spread over 5 communes to identify biodiversity comprehensively in all its forms…
André Simond was part of the technical team assembled with Emile Allais to create the ski resort. Setting up the ski school and the safety service, among other things, have been some of his tasks.
